Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (FACL) is a diverse coalition of Asian Canadian legal professionals working to promote equity, justice, and opportunity for Asian Canadian legal professionals and the wider community. FACL is a national not-for-profit organization working closely with other Asian Canadian associations and community organizations.
FACL Western is a chapter within the larger FACL organization and covers the provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba and the northern territories.

On this second National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we reflect on and acknowledge the history and truthful impacts of residential schools in Alberta. It is important to acknowledge that the effects of colonialism are still ongoing. We need to keep teaching and learning the truth of what has happened--and what is happening. We need to move beyond performative acts of reconciliation. We must take action by being allies and moving towards meaningful reconciliation.
In celebration of Asian Heritage Month, we highlight Asian lawyers and students throughout the legal profession. We hope you enjoy reading their stories.

This event aims to connect Asian students and practising lawyers across Calgary, allowing students valuable 1-on-1 time with professionals to network and seek mentorship.
FACL Western and the Alberta Chapter of the Canadian Muslim Lawyers Association (“CMLA”) are pleased to announce and partner on our inaugural Racialized Women in Leadership Event.
Beginning with virtual greetings by the Honourable Lieutenant Governor Salma Lakhani, Lillian Pan K.C. will be moderating an in-person panel discussion, with panelists Saliha Haq and Josephine Pon on the following topics:
Their lived experience as racialized women in leadership positions;
The barriers faced on the pathway to leadership and while in leadership roles; and
Strategies to overcome barriers and recommendations for systemic change
On behalf of the FACL Western (Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers, Western Chapter), the student committee is happy to announce that we're hosting a mentorship dinner, generously sponsored by Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP! This will be a networking opportunity for pan-Asian law students to connect with other Asian lawyers in their respective cities over a nice meal
